The sensors of series LD90-3 are based upon the well-proven principle of time-of-flight measurement of short laser pulses, like all Riegl products.
They can be operated with practically any target surface, i.e. "reflectorless" up to many hundred meters, and with reflecting foil or retroreflectors up to more than 1000 m.
The distance and level meter LD90-3-GF with glass-fiber couple optical head makes use of the time-of-flight method to determine the distance of a remote target by measuring the transit-time between transmission and reception of a short laser pulse.
The Riegl LD90-450 is an economically priced, high reliability distance sensor for industrial use "reflectorless" or with retroreflecting targets. The implemented "High Penetration" technology allows its use even under conditions of bad visibility, e.g. rain, dust, fog.
Riegl USA also offers a comprehensive line of enclosures that house the LD90-3/4.
